Description

A land art installation made while in residency at the Alchemy Art Center in Friday Harbor, Washington. In anticipation of the summer solstice, I traced the shadow of a large Douglas Fir tree at the heart of the Art Center every day at high noon over the course of a week. I then filled in its shadow with hundreds of fallen fir cones, creating the “shadow” of the mother tree both in actual space, and projected into the future through the bodies of its progeny. The installation was on display during the summer of 2018.
