Performance
Albedo
Description
Because of aircrafts’ inability to operate in the extreme cold, it’s impossible to land airplanes at the research station on Ross Island, Antarctica for the majority of the Austral winter. In 2020, due to the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the station was entirely shut off to any attempts at contact with the outside world altogether.
Albedo, a reference to the relative ability of objects to absorb heat from the sun, was performed while living in the isolation of the permanent-night of the Antarctic winter.
